Tandem Cycling Made Effortless: Bike for Two

In the Netherlands, riding a bicycle with a companion is a common sight. Now, we have made it even more convenient. Introducing the Bike for Two, where the inclusion of a bench seat accommodates a passenger, while the motor effortlessly assists with the pedaling. With a concealed battery and integrated footrests, this innovative design ensures a seamless and enjoyable experience. Additionally, a robust side stand allows the bike to transform into instant street furniture, enhancing its functionality. The outcome? An abundance of conviviality on the go.

The Punkt. Urban Mobility project has involved three top design schools: the RCA in London, Lausanne’s ECAL and Design Academy Eindhoven. The brief was to create a consumer electronics product that enhances personal mobility in the urban environment by making electric-assisted cycling easier and more accessible. The design was required to be specific to where the three Schools are situated. And London, Lausanne and Eindhoven are three very different cities, in terms of both topography and culture.
